Greenvolt has entered into a partnership with BYD to deliver 400 megawatts (MW) of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity across two sites in Poland. The projects, located in Turosn Koscielna and Nowa Wies Ełcka, will each feature 200MW and 800MWh of capacity, with a combined total of up to 1.6 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of storage.
Both projects have secured capacity market contracts and are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026. As part of a broader strategy, Greenvolt is advancing its portfolio of BESS projects, with a total pipeline capacity of 2.6 gigawatts (GW), and is exploring further investment opportunities in other markets.
“Greenvolt Power continues to reinforce its leadership in large-scale energy storage, and this agreement marks a significant step forward in delivering our pipeline of projects,” said Radek Nowak, CEO of Greenvolt Power. “Beyond its technological advantages, energy storage is also a key driver of long-term feasibility and profitability for our investments.”
The first phase of the contract, which is already underway, involves the construction of substation infrastructure. Deliveries for the two projects are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with full completion expected in early 2026.
Through its collaboration with BYD Energy Storage, Greenvolt is not only advancing energy storage projects across Europe but also strengthening Poland's renewable energy sector. The new BESS installations are expected to enhance grid stability, facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, and contribute to the overall resilience of the energy market.
