Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), one of India’s leading renewable energy groups, has surpassed 12 gigawatts (GW) of operational capacity, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth. The achievement was driven by the commissioning of a 275-megawatt (MW) solar installation at the Khavda plant in Kutch, Gujarat.

The Khavda plant, which spans a vast 538 square kilometers of barren land, is part of AGEL’s ambitious plans to develop a 30GW renewable energy facility, set to be the world’s largest power plant across all energy sources once completed. The current operational capacity at the Khavda site stands at over 2.8GW.

AGEL’s overall portfolio, now totaling 12,258MW, includes approximately 8,347MW of solar, 1,651MW of wind, and 2,259MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. The company has set a target of reaching 50GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

“We are proud to announce the achievement of over 12GW in operational capacity. This milestone reaffirms our commitment to building a sustainable energy future,” said an AGEL spokesperson. “The Khavda solar project is a key part of our expansion, and we are focused on continuing to drive growth and scale in India’s renewable energy sector.”

Once fully operational, the Khavda plant will solidify AGEL’s position at the forefront of the global renewable energy industry, further advancing the company’s goal of supporting the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system.
