Octopus Energy has experienced rapid success with the launch of its new investment platform, “The Collective,” as its first two wind projects sold out within just one week. The platform offers a unique opportunity for the public to directly invest in green energy projects, with the first turbines listed in Yorkshire and Wales attracting hundreds of investors.
To meet the high demand and expand the reach of its initiative, Octopus has introduced the “Pass the Power” campaign, inviting additional green energy projects to register their interest in listing on the platform. This initiative aims to broaden public ownership of renewable energy assets, such as wind and solar farms.
Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Collective, commented: “Selling out our first two projects in just a week shows just how much demand there is to reshape and democratise how green energy is funded and owned.” She added, “With our ‘Pass the Power’ campaign, we’re now also inviting other projects to register their interest in listing on our platform to unleash even more public ownership of renewables.
“The Collective” is free for investors to join and offers a range of investment options, from as little as £25 up to £20,000. This accessibility has attracted a wide pool of investors, enabling them to track their contributions and monitor how much clean energy their investments are generating through their Collective accounts.
Investors who are also Octopus customers have the added benefit of linking potential dividends to their energy accounts, offering an opportunity to reduce their energy bills.
By launching “The Collective,” Octopus Energy has become the first UK energy company to offer a retail investment platform regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The company’s efforts aim to democratize access to renewable energy investment and further accelerate the transition to clean energy.
North-Bond emphasized, “By adding more projects onto ‘the Collective’, we can empower even more people to take part in the clean energy revolution.
