WSP has announced the appointment of Chris Cowland as the new head of offshore wind for the UK and Ireland. Cowland brings over 27 years of experience in offshore wind, hydrocarbons, mining, and port development to the role.
Before joining WSP, Cowland served as vice president and subsector lead for global offshore wind at Worley, where he led the development and delivery of numerous offshore wind farms globally. His expertise spans engineering design, risk mitigation, and managing offshore substation platforms and wind turbine generator foundations for both fixed and floating structures.
Mark Hurley, executive managing director for water, energy, earth, and environment at WSP, expressed confidence in Cowland's leadership. He said, “With the UK government's commitment to quadruple offshore wind by 2030, we see huge potential for WSP to support new and existing clients on this key element of the UK's transition to net zero. Chris is expertly positioned to lead our approach in this space and support the delivery of a significant element of our growth plans for our Energy business.
