European Energy has completed the sale of its largest solar park to date in the United States, marking the company’s second major divestment in the country since its entry into the market in 2021.
The sale, which involves an unnamed solar park, brings European Energy’s total divested capacity in the U.S. to 800 MW. The company’s first U.S. project, Project Yellow Viking in Texas, was sold in 2023.
Once fully operational, the solar park will be capable of generating around 1,389 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power approximately 128,000 American households.
Lorena Ciciriello, CEO of European Energy North America, stated: “Our goal in the US is to create a broad portfolio of renewable energy solutions, and this sale is an important step in realising our strategy.”
Thorvald Spanggaard, executive vice president and head of project development at European Energy, commented on the significance of the sale: “The sale of this solar project is a testament to European Energy’s strong development capabilities in the world. We are committed to our ambitions to develop and expand our renewable energy business in the US. At the same time, it is something that creates local growth and new jobs in the country.”
European Energy, which began its U.S. development activities in 2021, operates an office near Austin, Texas. The company continues to focus on expanding its renewable energy presence in the American market.
