GES has launched a new integrated services division that combines its operations and maintenance (O&M) and wind turbine installation businesses. The move aims to better meet the growing demand for services related to repowering, major corrective works, and the management of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Roberto Lopez Casasola, who currently leads the O&M business unit, has been appointed as the director of the new division. The company also promoted Jorge Sanchez to head of wind installations and appointed Pedro Gil as head of wind O&M as of December 2024.
The O&M business unit saw significant growth in 2024, with a 35% increase in revenues compared to 2023, reaching €15.4 million. In particular, GES secured contracts to manage the operation and maintenance of renewable energy facilities with over 4,650 MW of wind capacity and 1,120 MW of solar capacity.
GES' wind turbine installation business also showed strong performance, installing more than 110 units that generated over 350 MW of power across several countries, including Spain, Italy, Egypt, Mexico, Germany, and France.
Looking ahead, GES forecasts a turnover of over €33 million for its integrated services division in 2025, representing a 10% growth. The division expects to generate approximately €16 million from O&M contracts and €17 million from wind and solar installation contracts. Key target markets for the division include Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Chile, and Mexico.
Lopez Casasola emphasized the need for this strategic realignment, stating, “This realignment responds to a changing market in which our clients—facility owners and the technologists themselves—are demanding more specialisation, technology, responsiveness and cost optimisation. I am convinced that with the new business unit, we can exceed these expectations and have multi-skilled staff available to develop strategies for renewable asset management that serve the business interests of our clients.
