London-based Renewable Power Capital (RPC) has appointed Sarwjit Sambhi as its new CEO, effective immediately. Sambhi takes over from Kevin Devlin, who led the company through a transformative period of growth and consolidation.

Sambhi brings more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector, having held several executive roles at Centrica, where he was instrumental in growing the company’s renewable energy portfolio in key markets, including the UK and the Nordics. Most recently, he served as CEO of St Modwen, a real estate company within the Blackstone portfolio, for the past four years.

Commenting on his appointment, Sambhi said, “I am delighted to join Renewable Power Capital at such an exciting time for the sector. I look forward to working with the talented team at RPC and partnering with our investor, CPP Investments, to create one of Europe’s leading renewable energy platforms.”

Shaun Kingsbury, Chair of RPC, expressed gratitude for Devlin’s leadership, noting, “Over the past couple of years, Kevin has spearheaded the team to deliver our biggest renewables deals to date. I am incredibly grateful for his leadership during such a transformative period for RPC.”

Devlin leaves RPC after overseeing its transition from an investor to an owner-operator, guiding the company through significant strategic developments in the renewable energy sector. Reflecting on his tenure, Devlin said, “It’s been a privilege to serve as RPC’s CEO during such an important period for the organisation and the renewables sector more broadly. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead RPC through a pivotal step change from investor to owner-operator.”

Sambhi’s appointment marks a new phase for RPC as it continues its expansion in the renewable energy market.
