Qualitas Energy Acquires 250MW Wind Power Portfolio in Germany

Qualitas Energy has acquired a 250MW wind power portfolio in Germany, consisting of four projects at an advanced stage of development. The projects, which are set to feature a total of 37 turbines, are spread across the German states of Saxony-Anhalt, Hesse, Lower Saxony, and Baden-Württemberg.

Once operational, the wind farms are expected to provide green to over 166,000 households, equivalent to the energy needs of a city the size of Duisburg, Germany. This acquisition marks a significant expansion of Qualitas Energy's portfolio in the German market.

These acquisitions come on the heels of the company's recent addition of a 32-turbine near the German North Sea coast and seven wind farms with a repowering potential of 173MW across the country. This deal represents Qualitas Energy's largest transaction since it acquired DunoAir's 1.4GW German wind development business in the spring of 2023.

The company continues to actively pursue its investment goals for the German market, with the backing of its flagship fund, Qualitas Energy Fund V, which closed in 2022 with €2.4 billion.

Johannes Overbeck, joint CEO of Qualitas Energy in Germany, commented: “Wind power is already one of the most cost-effective and reliable sources of sustainable electricity, which is why it is at the heart of our investment strategy. Our focus is on leveraging its potential through impactful projects that drive the energy transition and deliver lasting benefits to the environment and local communities.
