Huisman has won a contract to deliver two knuckle boom cranes for Sea1 Offshore's new ST-245-designed offshore energy support vessels. The cranes will be installed by COSCO (Qidong) Offshore in China.
Equipped with Huisman's proprietary Active Heave Compensation system, the cranes are designed to minimize energy consumption during offshore lifting operations. The system integrates the cranes' electric setup with the vessel's DC grid, optimizing energy efficiency by interacting with the vessel's electrical energy storage system.
This deal marks Huisman's fourth crane contract this year, highlighting the market's confidence in its advanced lifting technology.
Cees van Veluw, Huisman's Product Director for Cranes, noted a surge in demand for high-quality, energy-efficient equipment in the offshore support vessel sector. He emphasized that Huisman's Active Heave Compensation solutions are well-positioned to meet these needs, offering innovative technology that enhances operational efficiency.
The cranes are expected to play a key role in supporting the energy transition by improving the sustainability and reliability of offshore lifting operations.
