Neoen and Equinix Sign 53MW Solar PPA in Italy

Neoen and Equinix have entered their first (PPA) in , securing 53MW of energy output from seven new projects in the country's north. The 10-year agreement will support Equinix's 100% target for its International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in Milan and Genoa, while contributing to Italy's climate and energy goals for 2030.

The solar arrays, strategically located near Equinix's operations, aim to bolster Italy's decarbonization efforts under its Integrated National Plan for Energy and Climate Change. The PPA, structured using a portfolio approach, expands a series of renewable energy collaborations between Neoen and Equinix across Europe.

This deal represents the fifth PPA signed between the companies in Europe within three years, totaling 210MW of contracted capacity across Finland, , and now Italy. Globally, Neoen's corporate PPA capacity has surpassed 2.8GW, while Equinix's long-term renewable contracts amount to approximately 1.2GW.

Andrea Massimo Bartolini, director of Neoen Italy, emphasized the milestone achievement:
“We are very pleased to sign our first PPA in Italy, less than three years after our establishment here. This agreement highlights our ability to provide reliable, long-term, and competitive renewable energy to local clients while supporting a sustainable and sovereign Italy.”

Marco Matarazzo, director of IBX operations for Equinix Italy, highlighted the company's sustainability goals:
“Equinix is proud to support the development of seven new solar projects, advancing Italy's decarbonization targets and aligning with our ambition to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030. This initiative reflects our broader commitment to sustainability and leadership in the data center industry.”
