Ireland's Bord Gais Energy has agreed to acquire Swyft Energy, a local solar photovoltaic (PV) and boiler installation company, as part of its strategy to expand its market presence and enhance its ability to serve residential, business, and farming customers.
Swyft Energy, headquartered in Cork and Dublin, has completed over 15,000 installations and targets an additional 10,000 installations over the next five years. The acquisition is in line with Bord Gais Energy's shift towards becoming a leading green energy business.
In a statement, managing director Dave Kirwan said, “Bord Gais Energy is fundamentally repurposing its business to seek to become a leading green energy business, working towards energising a greener, fairer future. By 2030, Bord Gáis Energy expects all of its electricity customers to be powered with indigenous renewable generation.”
The value of the deal, which is subject to regulatory clearance, has not been disclosed.
