Elcogen Secures EUR 24.9 Million EU Grant for Green Hydrogen Manufacturing Expansion

Estonian green technology developer has been awarded a EUR 24.9 million (USD 26.8 million) grant under the EU Innovation Fund.

This funding will help the company scale up its production of solid oxide electrolyser cells (SOEC) and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) at its manufacturing facility in .

Elcogen plans to use the grant to expand its capacity significantly. The new Tallinn facility, set to begin operations in mid-2025, will increase production from 10 MW to 360 MW. The factory will cover 14,000 square meters in the Loovalja Industrial Park.

Elcogen CEO Enn Ounpuu expressed that the grant underscores the EU's commitment to developing a competitive green hydrogen production value chain across , emphasizing the need for scaling up to meet energy transition goals.

This aligns with the broader EU focus on green hydrogen, recently reaffirmed by European Commission President .
