has taken steps to secure pre-construction and construction permits for its Ramal Sur hybrid project in , combining an 85.8-MW wind farm and a 44.72-MW farm with its existing 424.91-MW Castejon 1 thermal power plant. This effort aims to enhance energy efficiency and lower emissions through renewable integration.

The company filed for necessary environmental and construction permits, which are currently under public consultation, as stated in Spain's official gazette.

TotalEnergies has committed over EUR 88.8 million (USD 95.6 million) to the project, with approximately EUR 51 million dedicated to the wind farm and EUR 18.5 million for the solar installations.

Additional funds will be used for interconnection to integrate these renewable sources with the thermal facility.

The Ramal Sur wind farm, planned for the Navarre region, will include 13 turbines, each with a 6.6-MW capacity. Meanwhile, the solar farm will consist of 76,000 modules mounted on single-axis trackers with 208 inverters, offering a seamless hybridisation with the Castejon 1 plant.

This project supports Spain's renewable energy transition by blending solar and wind capabilities with existing gas infrastructure.
