Romania is on track to sign contracts by the end of 2024 in its inaugural Contract for Difference (CfD) auction, which will allocate 500 MW of solar and 1 GW of onshore wind capacity, according to the Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association (RPIA).
Initially set to close on October 23, the bidding deadline was extended to November 18 to accommodate participant requests.
The auction, part of a larger EUR 3 billion scheme, will ultimately fund 5 GW of renewable energy capacity across Romania.
For this first round, the maximum tariffs are capped at EUR 82 per MWh for wind energy and EUR 78 per MWh for solar energy.
A second CfD auction, scheduled for next year, will allocate the remaining 3.5 GW of renewable capacity.
