Portuguese utility EDP, through its subsidiary EDP Energia Polska, has announced plans to install a 1.6-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system at a production facility for REHAU Window Solutions, part of the REHAU Group, in Poland. This initiative aims to reduce the plant's grid dependence by 7% under a 20-year agreement.
The installation will consist of approximately 2,800 solar panels, which are expected to generate enough clean electricity to offset around 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
In line with the solar-as-a-service model, EDP will oversee the maintenance, servicing, and daily management of the PV array.
EDP highlighted that its Polish operations are experiencing rapid growth, with the unit closing 2023 with approximately 102 MWp of contracted capacity, representing a 120% increase compared to the previous year.
