Nine companies, including seven international firms and two Colombian entities, have filed accreditation documents with Colombia's National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) as part of the initial stage of the country's inaugural Offshore Wind Energy Round.
The accreditation will enable the Colombian government to assess the experience and capacity of these firms in developing offshore wind and other non-conventional renewable energy projects.
Among the companies expressing interest are BlueFloat Energy (Spain), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (Denmark), Jan de Nul and DEME (Belgium), Powerchina and China Three Gorges Corporation (China), Dyna Energy (UK), as well as Ecopetrol and Celsia from Colombia.
These projects are planned for both shallow and deep waters off the coasts of Atlántico, Bolívar, southern Magdalena, and northern Sucre.
This initiative marks the first offshore wind round in Latin America, with a final list of qualified bidders expected by December, while specific bids are anticipated in early 2025.
