has officially started construction of the Kail wind farm in 's Rhineland-Palatinate region, marking a significant step in the area's development.

Located on a high plateau near the Moselle River, the site will host three wind turbines with a combined capacity of 12.9 MW, expected to generate enough green electricity to power around 7,500 households annually upon completion in late 2025.

, Europe & Australia CEO, noted, “The start of construction of the Kail wind farm is a positive signal for the expansion of renewable energies in Rhineland-Palatinate. The good cooperation with the municipalities, the district of Cochem-Zell, and the local farmers also contributed to this.”

The project will benefit local communities through voluntary payments of €0.002 per kilowatt hour produced, adding up to €60,000 per year, on top of land lease fees.

Additionally, RWE has collaborated with Rhineland-Palatinate archaeologists to survey and preserve historic finds on this site, which has been inhabited since the Stone Age.

In keeping with environmental standards, RWE has planned construction to minimize ecological impacts, including repurposing expanded path and crane parking areas within the wind farm to avoid additional land disturbance.
