Italian green energy company ERG SpA has officially inaugurated its 149-MWp Garnacha solar farm in Spain, marking the company's largest facility in Europe.
Located in the Castile and Leon region, the solar farm spans 224 hectares (approximately 553.5 acres) and is equipped with 275,000 photovoltaic panels. The plant is projected to generate around 280 GWh of electricity annually.
“This project is a key step in ERG's strategy for geographic and technological diversification, outlined in the 2024-2026 Industrial Plan, and reinforces our growing presence in Spain,” the company stated in a LinkedIn post.
Garnacha was integrated into ERG's Spanish operations through an acquisition, with the project owner being purchased from German renewables developer ib vogt GmbH in early 2023.
