Malaysian oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Bhd, widely known as Petronas, is reportedly exploring the sale of a minority stake in Gentari, its renewable energy subsidiary that had 2.4 GW of installed capacity as of June 30.
Sources indicate that Petronas has engaged an adviser to assist in this potential transaction, which could value the shareholding between $300 million and $500 million.
While discussions are in the preliminary stages and details remain uncertain, the minority stake has garnered interest from infrastructure funds and industry peers. Any proceeds from the sale are expected to support Gentari's expansion efforts.
Gentari specializes in solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with a total capacity of 3.6 GW from projects that are either operational or under construction. Additionally, the company is involved in hydrogen production and the green mobility sector.
