Poland Moves to Accelerate Offshore Wind Farm Development with Draft Amendment

's Ministry of Climate and Environment has prepared a draft amendment to the act promoting power generation by wind farms.

The proposed changes, submitted for approval to the Council of Ministers, aim to streamline and speed up the development of offshore wind energy projects.

The amendment is intended to simplify investment procedures, supporting the expansion of offshore wind energy as a key element in Poland's energy transition.

The ministry highlighted that this sector is vital for both the country's energy goals and its economic competitiveness, with the potential to create new jobs in the coming years.

The draft introduces several changes, including updates to the auction support system, adjustments for energy sales during the start-up phase, regulations on shared power output by multiple farms, and measures addressing fishing in areas occupied by offshore wind farms. These changes are designed to ensure the effective and sustainable growth of Poland's offshore wind industry.
