European solar developer Alight and Finnish renewables firm 3Flash Solar have announced a partnership to develop a 120-MW solar project on agricultural land in southern Finland. The facility will be located in Loviisa, specifically in the Jokiniemi area, with construction slated to commence in early 2025.
Once operational, expected in 2027, the project is anticipated to generate 155 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power approximately 31,000 households.
The planning permission application for the project was submitted last week, marking a significant step forward. The joint venture describes the future facility as one of the largest commercial solar energy projects currently under development in Finland.
“We will now intensify discussions with companies that are seeking to sign long-term solar PPAs to reach their sustainability goals, ultimately making the project financially viable,” stated Alexander Rudberg, Finnish country manager at Alight.
