EDP Renováveis SA announced on Thursday that its renewable power plants generated 26.5 TWh in the first nine months of 2024, reflecting a 5% year-on-year increase.
The company's report highlighted that power generation during this period was affected by below-average wind resources, particularly in Brazil, as well as curtailment losses primarily in the US and Spain. EDPR also noted that the commissioning of new capacities is expected to be concentrated in the fourth quarter of the year.
In the first nine months, EDPR added 1.3 GW of power generation capacity, entirely from solar assets. North America accounted for the largest share, contributing 73% of the new capacity, while South America added 13%. Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region contributed 9% and 5%, respectively.
The company currently has 4.1 GW of new capacity under construction, indicating ongoing growth in its renewable energy portfolio.
