Mingyang Smart Energy has contracted TUV Nord to certify its 18MW offshore wind turbine, the MySE18.X-260. The agreement was formalized at the China Wind Power exhibition in Beijing, marking a significant step in the certification process for the rotor-nacelle assembly according to the internationally recognized standard IECRE OD501.
The MySE18.X-260 turbine is designed for international markets, featuring an output of 18MW and a rotor diameter of 260 meters. TUV Nord's type certification will ensure that the turbine meets rigorous international standards for design and performance. This process includes a comprehensive evaluation of technical documentation, structural integrity analysis, mechanical systems assessment, and electrical systems inspection, alongside thorough safety checks.
Alexander Ohff, Executive Vice President Renewables at TUV Nord, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “With the new design, Mingyang is setting the benchmark on the international market for rated capacity and rotor diameter. We are looking forward to working with Mingyang on this ambitious project.”
In addition to the certification agreement, Mingyang has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Wind Organisation (GWO), a non-profit entity comprised of wind turbine manufacturers and owners focused on standardizing training and workforce development in the sector.
Mingyang's inclusion in GWO adds to its commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards while enhancing efforts toward sustainable energy solutions. With this addition, GWO now includes 30 member companies, all significant players in the renewable energy field.
