Mingyang Smart Energy Unveils World’s Largest 18MW Offshore Wind Turbine at Shanwei Base

has introduced its cutting-edge 18MW at the Shanwei manufacturing base, claiming the title of the world's largest offshore wind turbine in terms of capacity and rotor diameter.

The MySE 18.X-20MW turbine signifies Mingyang's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology for deeper waters and providing innovative and more powerful solutions for the offshore wind industry. The turbine boasts modularity, a lightweight design, high efficiency, and reliability.

Featuring flexible power ratings ranging from 18.X to 20MW and rotor diameters spanning 260-292 meters, the turbine covers a maximum swept area equivalent to nine soccer fields. Mingyang asserts that the model's annual generation capacity of 80mkWh in Eastern Guangdong can power 96,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 66,000 tonnes.

Designed for global deployment in medium-to-high wind speed regions, the MySE 18.X-20MW is particularly suitable for typhoon-prone sites. The turbine is equipped with active anti-typhoon technology, capable of withstanding Category 17 typhoons (56.1-61.2 m/s), according to the manufacturer.

The domestic manufacturing of key components, including blades, gearboxes, generators, pitch systems, large castings, and control systems, ensures a robust supply chain and contributes to the industry's manufacturing capabilities, Mingyang added.
