Marine engineering consultancy ABL has successfully completed its scope of work for the monopile foundation installation campaign of the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind project, located in the Taiwan Strait.
The company supported the transportation and installation (T&I) of monopile foundations for Yunneng Wind Power, a consortium involving Skyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO Group), and Sojitz Corporation.
Awarded in 2022, ABL Germany, based in Hamburg, handled a range of detailed engineering studies. These included transportation and motions analyses, seafastening equipment design, dynamic mooring analyses, tow manual development, and rigging/lift plan design verification. Additionally, ABL provided technical due diligence for T&I procedures and desktop marine assurance services.
The Yunlin offshore wind farm is situated 8 to 17 km off Taiwan's west coast, at depths ranging from 7 to 35 meters. It comprises 80 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8 MW.
ABL has contributed its expertise to over 230 offshore wind arrays globally, with a total capacity exceeding 118GW.
