The 1.14-GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm, developed by Poland's PKN Orlen and Canada's Northland Power, has received its first monopile foundations from German manufacturer Steelwind Nordenham.
The company announced this as the first of 25 scheduled deliveries, with a total of 78 monopiles to be produced. Two of the monopiles will support offshore power stations, while the remaining will be used for wind turbines.
Monopile production began in January 2024, and the remaining foundations will be transported to the installation site starting early next year.
The Danish port of Roenne will temporarily serve as the logistics base until Poland's Swinoujscie installation terminal is ready.
Baltic Power is on track for completion by 2026, marking one of the world's first projects to deploy 15-MW wind turbines. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to meet 3% of Poland's energy needs and cut CO2 emissions by 2.8 million tonnes annually.
