According to KITV4 News, AES Hawaii, the owner of West Oahu's coal-fired power plant, has filed a $16 million building permit to demolish the plant. This comes after the plant closed on its 30th anniversary on September 1, 2022, as part of Hawaii's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The West Oahu power plant opened
