Energy storage companies Ingrid Capacity and BW ESS inaugurated a portfolio of 14 battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Sweden, boasting a combined capacity of 211 MW/211 MWh.
This milestone was announced on Monday, highlighting the systems' critical role in stabilizing the electricity grid, managing loads efficiently, and providing additional capacity during peak demand.
The collaboration between Ingrid Capacity and BW ESS began in April 2023 when BW ESS invested approximately SEK 1 billion (USD 96 million/EUR 88 million) to support Ingrid Capacity's growth and advance a 400-MW pipeline of BESS assets. The investment aimed to deploy around 20 projects throughout Sweden.
In September 2023, the partnership commenced construction at six sites with a total capacity of 89 MW, followed by the initiation of eight more sites in February this year, bringing the total under construction to over 200 MW.
