Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS has commenced statutory consultation on detailed proposals for a 30-megawatt (MW) solar project located in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales.
The plans for the Alleston solar farm were developed after extensive environmental studies and feedback received during early engagement in 2023, resulting in significant modifications to the initial proposal, including the relocation of solar panels.
Situated between the Pembroke and Lamphey communities, the solar farm will cover an area of 100 hectares and will connect to the national grid via existing powerlines.
Upon commissioning, it is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power over 14,000 homes.
The deadline for stakeholders to submit comments during the consultation process is set for November 19. Following this consultation, the proposals will be finalized, and a Development of National Significance (DNS) application will be submitted to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) for examination, ultimately to be determined by Welsh Government Ministers, according to Statkraft's press statement.
