Belgium-based Virya Energy NV has formed a strategic partnership with Greek renewable energy firm Zephiros Ltd to develop a wind farm project on Evia Island, Greece, with a potential capacity of approximately 250 megawatts.
The announcement was made on Monday, though specific details regarding the proposed wind farm were not disclosed.
Zephiros will provide consultancy and construction services for the project, with both companies aiming to leverage their combined expertise and resources to enhance the deployment of renewable energy in Greece.
They anticipate that the wind farm will significantly bolster the region's energy security and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Virya Energy currently has 500 megawatts of installed wind power capacity across Europe, while Zephiros has a development pipeline of 122 projects in Greece, expected to contribute a combined capacity of around 2.25 gigawatts. This collaboration marks a significant step toward increasing renewable energy production in the country.
