BayWa's renewables division has completed the Tarquinia solar farm in Italy, which has a total capacity of 51MW. The project consists of over 94,000 fixed solar modules, with BayWa r.e. serving as both general contractor and developer, managing all phases from development and authorization to construction and installation.
Now operational, BayWa r.e. will oversee the operation and maintenance of the solar farm. The project includes various measures aimed at enhancing its integration with the local environment, such as the creation of an artificial pond to support aquatic microhabitats, benefiting local wildlife.
Efforts to preserve existing dry-stone walls aim to maintain the landscape's integrity and promote biodiversity. Future plans include planting native species to establish ecological corridors and improve connectivity with nearby natural habitats.
Alessandra Toschi, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Italy, noted that the project is expected to provide renewable energy to over 35,000 households while also contributing to biodiversity and landscape preservation.
