French hydrogen equipment company McPhy Energy SA has lost a recently signed contract to supply 24 MW of electrolysers after the associated green hydrogen project was abandoned due to the unexpected withdrawal of the off-taker.
In September, McPhy entered into a contract for the supply, assembly, and commissioning of two McLyzer 3200-30 electrolysers for use in Central Europe. The client was identified as an unnamed “key player in the energy sector” in a statement released on September 25.
The company indicated last month that a final investment decision on the proposed project was anticipated by the end of 2024, with the commissioning of the equipment scheduled for 2026.
However, with the recent developments, the project has been halted, impacting McPhy's expected contributions to green hydrogen production.
