European renewables developer Q Energy announced on Wednesday that it has commenced construction on a 10.8-MWp solar project in Calabria, southwest Italy.
The solar facility is being built on a 10-hectare site previously used by a chemical company and will feature about 20,000 ground-mounted modules with single-axis trackers.
Once operational, which is expected in the spring of 2025, the plant will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of over 7,200 homes.
The site is located one kilometre from the closest substation, ensuring an efficient connection to the local grid.
“This project is one in a series of green energy developments that Q Energy is planning in the country. We are working on innovative solutions that will deliver more renewable energy and flexibility services in the coming years,” said Vincenzo Magliulo, business developer at Q Energy.
