Voltwise Power Acquires First Battery Energy Storage Project in Germany

Power, a newly established battery systems (BESS) developer, has secured its first shovel-ready project, a 56-MW utility-scale BESS located in , Germany.

The marks a significant step for the company, which is wholly owned and funded by energy -focused private investment firm Sandbrook Capital, launched in June 2023.

The battery storage system, designed to dispatch electricity for a duration of two hours, is slated to enter the construction phase in early 2025, with plans for it to be operational by the end of 2026.

This project is the first of a larger portfolio Voltwise aims to develop, which may be built through acquisitions from earlier-stage developers or self-developed projects.

In its statement, Voltwise highlighted its ambition to create a significant portfolio, indicating that it has been working on a pipeline of approximately 10 GW of projects for several years.

The company's initial focus will be on markets in Germany and the UK, where it aims to expand its footprint in the energy storage sector.
