UK-based renewable energy infrastructure developer Harmony Energy Limited has received resource consent for a third solar farm in New Zealand, which, once operational, is expected to power approximately 20,000 homes.
The facility will be located in Carterton and will include energy storage capacity, with construction anticipated to take around 18 months.
The project is projected to generate about 300 full-time equivalent jobs during the construction phase, according to a company statement.
Earlier this month, Harmony Energy also received approvals for two additional solar projects in Marton and Opunake, which will have a combined capacity of nearly 150 megawatts (MW).
When all three facilities are completed, they are expected to generate enough clean electricity to satisfy the annual power requirements of around 50,000 local households.
