Indonesia’s Minister of Finance Discusses Renewable Energy Investment Plans with South Korean Investors

's Minister of , , met with investors and companies from at the “South Korea Re:Invest Indonesia 2023” business forum in Incheon on May 3. The event was held to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and to discuss Indonesia's commitment to transitioning to renewable energy.

“As two countries that both have a focus on developing renewable energy, I hope that Indonesia and South Korea will continue to have a constructive and harmonious relationship,” Sri Mulyani stated on her official Instagram account @smindrawati, as quoted in Jakarta, Thursday.

The minister emphasized Indonesia's commitment to achieving a clean and sustainable energy future through the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM), launched during Indonesia's G20 Presidency in November 2022, as well as through various roadmaps and policies targeted to be achieved by 2030 and 2060.

Sri Mulyani also highlighted Indonesia's priorities for ensuring a just and affordable energy transition, including stability in essential services, price stability for energy, food, and public transportation, social protection for the poor and vulnerable, and the application of sustainable development principles.

The finance minister's presence at the forum underscored the importance of renewable energy investment in Indonesia, as the country aims to reduce its carbon footprint and promote economic growth.

“We believe that renewable energy is the future, and it is crucial to develop the necessary and policies to support this transition,” Sri Mulyani said.

Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, Head of the National Capital Authority Bambang Susantono, and Ambassador of Indonesia for South Korea Gandi Sulistiyanto also attended the forum, demonstrating the country's commitment to working with South Korea to achieve a sustainable future.
