MEIL to Develop 4,000 MW Pumped-Storage Hydro Stations in Maharashtra

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited () announced on Thursday the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop two pumped-storage hydro (PSH) stations in , India, with a combined capacity of 4,000 MW.

The agreement, made with the Department of Water Resources of Maharashtra, covers the Kamod Pumped Storage Project in Nandurbar District and the Ghosla Pumped Storage Project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District.

The total estimated cost of the projects is INR 211 billion (USD 2.52 billion/EUR 2.26 billion), marking MEIL's first foray into PSH under the build-operate-maintain (DBOM) model.

Both projects will use closed-loop, off-stream systems, relying on water from existing reservoirs or dams for initial filling and annual replenishment.

Once operational, the stations will offer at least six hours of daily . The Ghosla project is slated for completion in three and a half years, while the Kamod project is expected to be finalized in five years.
