The Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul (TJMS) in Brazil has inaugurated a solar park as part of a BRL 30 million (USD 5.5 million/EUR 4.9 million) investment aimed at enhancing the state's clean energy initiatives and its ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
Named Gameleira, the project features the installation of 6,000 solar panels across an area of 72,784 square meters (783,440 square feet) in Campo Grande, with a total investment of BRL 10.8 million, as announced by the Mato Grosso do Sul state government on Thursday.
Implemented by the state's Judicial System, the Gameleira project is part of a broader initiative by the TJMS that includes the installation of 50 renewable energy systems across 49 municipalities, as well as 1,436 panels at the Court of Justice's headquarters.
The solar panels at the Court of Justice's headquarters generate approximately 90,000 kWh per month. With the additional output of 400,000 kWh from the Gameleira solar park, the power needs for all Judicial System buildings in Campo Grande are now met, according to the announcement.
