Enefit Green and GE Vernova have reached an agreement following the collapse of a wind turbine at the Akmene wind farm in Lithuania in May 2023. The settlement, part of a contractual adjustment to the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA), includes compensation valued at approximately €8 million, with half in cash and the rest in non-cash elements.
Interim Chairman of the Management Board at Enefit Green, Andres Maasing, commented on the resolution process: “The months following the incident have been fast-paced and focused on resolving key steps with GE Vernova, our external technical advisors at DNV, legal advisors at Sorainen, insurance advisors at Marsh, and other parties.”
Maasing further elaborated on the company's response, noting that their initial priority was to ensure the safety of the remaining turbines and the nearby community. Once operations were gradually restored, negotiations on their contractual rights followed, leading to the final settlement with GE Vernova.
The 75 MW Akmene wind farm, comprising 14 GE Vernova turbines, is one of Enefit Green's latest renewable energy projects in Lithuania. It is projected to generate around 258 GWh of electricity annually.
