Nordex SE has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Sia Laflora Energy, a unit of peat extraction and processing company Laflora, to supply turbines for a 108.8 MW wind farm in Latvia, marking the company's first order in the country.
The agreement involves the delivery of 16 N175/6.X wind turbines, specifically designed for cold climates, which will be installed on hybrid towers developed in-house with hub heights of 179 meters (587 feet).
This project also signifies the first significant order for this turbine model in the Baltic states, having recently received provisional type certification from TUV SUD, a German product safety quality inspection group.
Additionally, the contract includes a 35-year Premium Plus Service agreement. The wind farm will be constructed on a former peat extraction site within the Kaigu bog in the municipality of Livberze, forming part of a broader wind power complex in the region.
Developed by Windy Ltd, the Laflora project is expected to be completed by summer 2026 and has been sold to local state-owned energy company Latvenergo, which has contracted a portion of the plant's future energy output.
