US alternative asset manager GCM Grosvenor Inc has acquired a 25% stake in the 845-MW Shepherds Flat wind farm in Oregon from a group led by Brookfield Asset Management.
The Shepherds Flat facility, which spans Gilliam and Morrow counties, is considered the largest repowered wind farm in North America.
It consists of 338 turbines and generates over 2,000 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to supply approximately 185,000 homes.
The wind farm has been fully operational since November 2012, with its output secured under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a major utility. Brookfield acquired the asset in 2021 and completed a repowering project shortly thereafter.
GCM made the investment through its Infrastructure Advantage Strategy, acquiring the stake from Brookfield and its institutional partners, including Brookfield Renewable, the company's listed renewables arm.
