French independent green energy operator Valorem has officially inaugurated a 22-MW wind farm in the Occitania region of Southern France. The Saint-Amans-Valtoret plant, located in the Tarn department, features 10 turbines and is anticipated to generate approximately 61 GWh of electricity annually.
This output is expected to offset around 24,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, contributing significantly to local sustainability efforts. Notably, the electricity produced by the turbines, manufactured by Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems, is estimated to meet 5% of the total power consumption for the entire department.
The wind farm, situated in the Angles plateau, began operations this summer. During the same period, Valorem also launched a 9-MW wind farm in the Mayenne department in northwestern France, developed in partnership with Société Énergie Mayenne.
The successful realization of the Saint-Amans-Valtoret project involved the mobilization of 538 local lenders through a crowdfunding campaign, demonstrating the strong community support for renewable energy initiatives.
Since its inception in 1994, Valorem has installed over 900 MW of renewable energy capacity across Europe. The company currently has a robust portfolio of projects under development, totaling 6.3 GW, reflecting its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
