has announced a collaboration with Irish developer to explore the feasibility of its FRP monopile technology. The foundation system aims to extend the water depth and economic benefits of the monopile up to 100 metres.

The joint study will assess both the technical and economic feasibility of the FRP technology in water depths of 60 to 80 metres, comparing it to alternative foundation options. The study will also optimize the FRP configuration based on integrated engineering, fabrication, installation, and operations and maintenance assessments.

“We are very pleased for this opportunity to explore the technical feasibility of the FRP monopile and to collaborate with Simply Blue Group,” said , vice president of business development at Entrion Wind.

Entrion Wind is developing the FRP monopile to accelerate wind deployment by extending the depth range and improving the economics of monopile foundations up to 100 metres. This patent-pending technology is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6.

The company plans an offshore demonstration project next year to prepare the design for commercial rollout. This follows the completion of a 1:2 scale test at the MilLab at UiA in Grimstad, Norway, in November 2023 and the issuance of a Statement of Feasibility by DNV on March 31, 2023.
