Germany's Federal Network Agency has selected 119 rooftop solar projects with a combined capacity of 259 MW in a recent tender that drew bids totaling 363 MW.
The successful bids ranged between EUR 0.0795 per kWh and EUR 0.1019 per kWh, with a volume-weighted average price of EUR 0.0894 per kWh. This average price is significantly below the cap of EUR 0.105 per kWh and slightly higher than the previous round's average of EUR 0.0892 per kWh.
North Rhine-Westphalia received the most awards, securing 34 projects with a total capacity of 83 MW. Lower Saxony followed with 17 projects totaling 31 MW, and Bavaria received 13 awards with a combined capacity of 23 MW.
The tender was open to projects with capacities ranging from more than 1 MW to up to 20 MW. Most of the awarded contracts, 78 in total, went to bids of up to 2 MW, with the largest awarded bid having a capacity of 10 MW. Nineteen bids were excluded from the procedure due to formal errors.
Germany plans to distribute 900 MW of capacity for rooftop solar installations on buildings and noise barriers through three separate tender rounds in 2024.
In the first round held in March, the Federal Network Agency approved 125 rooftop solar projects with a combined capacity of 264 MW from a total of 378 MW worth of bids submitted.
