Swiss renewables investment platform Keppel MET Renewables (KMR) announced today that it has acquired a 20-MWp portfolio of two solar projects in Northern Italy.
The joint venture, formed between Swiss energy company MET Group and Singaporean conglomerate Keppel Corp Ltd, purchased the projects from Italian developer ReFeel New Energy (RNE) for an undisclosed amount.
The two photovoltaic (PV) projects, located in the Piedmont and Lombardy regions, are currently in the ready-to-build phase and are expected to become operational in 2025.
Upon completion, the plants will have a combined output of approximately 30 GWh, sufficient to meet the annual electricity consumption of over 10,000 local homes.
“The closing of this transaction marks a key milestone in our ambition to build a portfolio of state-of-the-art wind and solar projects across the European Union,” said Luke Gillott, CEO of KMR.
Currently, KMR's Italian portfolio includes 277 MWp of early to mid-stage solar projects, which are planned to come online in the coming years. Last autumn, the company acquired a 38-MWp PV project in southern Italy's Apulia region, with the expectation that it will become shovel-ready in 2025 and start operations a year later.
