Spanish solar energy specialist Soltec Power Holdings SA announced on Tuesday that it has received environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for five solar projects in Italy, totaling 220 MW.
The approved projects include Altogianni 1 and Altogianni 2, each with a capacity of 40 MW and located in the Basilicata region. Additionally, Soltec has secured approval for the 34-MW Sparpagliata, 34-MW Lopez, and 50-MW Lo Schiavo projects in Puglia, as well as the 61-MW Ururi project in Molise.
These recent approvals build on Soltec's previous success in obtaining EIAs for four projects with a combined capacity of 195 MW at the end of 2023. With these new additions, Soltec now holds environmental clearance for a total of 415 MW of solar projects in Italy.
Mariano Berges del Estal, CEO of Soltec, emphasized the significance of these projects for the company. “The development of agrivoltaic projects in Italy is of strategic importance for Soltec. We are very pleased with the progress made in the country and the achievement of these environmental authorizations, which further prove the absolute quality of our projects,” he said.
Soltec views Italy, alongside Spain and Brazil, as a key strategic market. The company has a pipeline of 2.68 GW of projects at various stages of development in Italy.
