KENC Engineering has been awarded the contract for the seafastening of two large jackets for an offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) in the Baltic Sea. The transmission asset will connect to a 927MW offshore wind farm in the region.
The contract encompasses the design and engineering of the seafastening for the OHVS substructures. The steel jackets, weighing 3,700 metric tons each and standing approximately 33 meters tall, will be positioned vertically on a barge during transport. KENC's lower and upper grillage system will provide essential support for the jackets during this transition.
“We are excited to be part of this offshore wind farm project,” said Eric Buining, managing director of KENC Engineering. “We are proud to contribute to large-scale initiatives like this and we look forward to working on this project.”
The engineering work is scheduled for completion in November 2024. The 927MW offshore wind project, named Gennaker, is being constructed in the German Baltic Sea.
