Brazil's Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has approved a BRL 92.8 million loan package (USD 17m / EUR 15.6m) to bolster solar and wind energy projects across the country's Northeast region.
The disbursement, facilitated through Sudene's northeast development fund (FDNE), aims to advance sustainable energy initiatives, the governmental agency announced on Monday.
According to Sudene, the financing will support significant projects in the region, including the 39.9-MW Ventos de Santa Tereza 01 wind park owned by AES Brasil Energia SA (BVMF
), which is set to receive its initial FDNE funding installment.
Additionally, the Eolica Canudos II and III wind parks, collectively generating 99.4 MW, have secured their final loan payments under the scheme.
Moreover, the loan will also contribute to the development of a 50-MW solar park operated by Sol Serra do Mel V SPE SA, further enhancing Brazil's renewable energy infrastructure.
This initiative underscores Sudene's commitment to fostering sustainable development and expanding renewable energy capacity in Brazil's Northeast, leveraging financial mechanisms to drive forward the country's energy transition agenda.
