Navantia-Windar Renovables to Build Monopiles for Iberdrola’s Windanker Offshore Wind Farm

Navantia Seanergies - has been awarded a contract to manufacture 21 monopiles for 's Windanker wind farm in the Baltic Sea, with a completion target set for 2026. This project, located in German waters, aims to incorporate cutting-edge 15MW turbines to bolster the region's electricity supply.

“This is the 4th monopile order for Navantia-Windar and the 2nd that Iberdrola has contracted from the consortium for this type of foundation,” Navantia Seanergies -Windar Renovables stated, highlighting the strategic significance of the agreement. The construction of these structures, to be carried out at the shipyard in Fene, A Coruña, will involve extensive labor efforts.

According to the consortium, “The manufacture of the 21 pieces will involve 420,000 hours over 10 months, generating around 210 jobs between Navantia-Windar Renovables and collaborating auxiliary industry.” Each monopile is projected to reach up to 84 meters in length, 10 meters in diameter, and weigh approximately 2,100 tonnes.

With this latest contract, Navantia-Windar Renovables continues to strengthen its longstanding partnership with Iberdrola, spanning over nine years and encompassing various offshore wind farm projects across the UK, , , and the US, amounting to more than 1 billion euros in value.
