Renewable energy firm RES has commenced construction on a 31-MW wind project in southern Germany, scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
Located in the Gomadingen district, approximately 60 km southwest of Stuttgart in Baden-Wuerttemberg, the wind park will feature five Vestas V162 – 6.2 MW wind turbines, RES announced this week.
“The wind farm is a significant milestone for regional energy transition, potentially supplying over 20,000 households with wind power,” stated Gerhard Kienzler, Managing Director at RES.
Initial activities include earthworks, cable installation, and preparation of crane, storage, and assembly areas, alongside enhancing electrical infrastructure and transportation routes for large components.
RES plans to finish preparatory work by mid-2025, facilitating component delivery and turbine installation. The Vestas turbines will reach heights of 250 meters, equipped with 162-meter rotors.
Developed by Windkraft Schonach GmbH, a RES Group entity, the project marks a stride towards sustainable energy development in the region.
